Tap into what Boulder has to offer!

Keep your hard-earned money in our town. Tap into what Boulder has to offer by shopping locally in the most unique offerings in Colorado!

Recent studies on buy local efforts show that for every $1 spent in a chain store, 13 cents stays in the local community in the form of salaries and purchases from local vendors and results in approximately 45 cents that circulates back into the community. Boulder is home to boutiques, galleries, local independent shops, outdoor farmers’ markets, and many national retailers. In addition, when you shop in Boulder, you pay sales tax which goes directly to the City of Boulder  and for every $100 you spend at Boulder stores, $3.41 stays in Boulder to pay for services and programs. Boulder projects $73.4 million in retail sales tax collections for 2010 and will make up approximately 32 percent of this year’s budget.

Shopping in the city of Boulder is also choosing to make an investment in our community. “While there are other Francesca’s Collections in the state, it’s important to support the Boulder store to continue to enhance the City’s services. Every day, I enjoy working, living and serving the Boulder community,” said Erin Waggener, manager of Francesca’s Collections at Twenty Ninth Street.

Longtime Boulder business owner Nelson Kugel of The Gondolier on Pearl said his restaurant has moved to four different locations over the years in Boulder but being a family-owned restaurant in Boulder for 50 years, it’s important to support those unique offerings in Boulder because everything you want to do is right here in this great town.

If you live, work or play in Boulder, buying here supports the community and the services and programs it provides. More importantly, you’re investing in the city’s future and contributing to a more sustainable and enhanced quality of life. Read more in this article
